Best Chinese food in Baton Rouge by far. My only complaint is that they actually promote the restaurant as Japanese/Sushi and wouldn't even know they offer Chinese food without going inside or hearing from somebody else. You sometimes have to ask for the Chinese menu. I really hope this place survives since it is located in what is known as the restaurant graveyard. So far I've had: Ants Climbing Trees Kung Pao Chicken Chong Qing Spicy Chicken - which is very spicy but delicous Spicy Cumin Beef Bamboo Shoots Pork Garlic Sauce Pork Gyoza Dumplings Everything delicous and easily the best Chinese food I've ever had. Absolutely go give this place a try!

Definitely a fan. Probably my favorite place for Chinese food in town. The exterior look and location may keep some people from trying, but if you want more authentic and quality Chinese food, you should give Omi a try. The portions are large and probably best eaten family style. The food and service have been good for all of my experiences there. I try to eat different dishes every time I go. Most have been great, with a couple that just weren't to my taste (due more to my preferences than to an issue with quality). A couple of my favorite dishes have been: the Garlic Sauce Eggplant (hard not to order every visit); Ants on Trees; Moo Shoo Pork. Plenty of the other dishes are good these are just the first to come to mind. The only thing I would change, is it would be nice if they offered some lunch portions/specials that could be grabbed for just one person. Overall, I find Omi much better than the typical take-out Chinese places and I hope it sticks around because there are not many other options for quality authentic Chinese in the area. They also have Japanese options, but I have never tried them.

Went for sushi. It was not very good. We didn't even finish the roll it was so bad. Some of the sashimi was still partially frozen inside. Service was slow and there were only two other tables. Would not recommend this place for sushi, Maybe the Chinese food is better.

This place was awesome!! There are so many sushi restaurants in BR, but I have been looking for a traditional Chinese restaurant. (Like the kind we all are at before we discovered sushi). My search is over. I had the garlic pork and my husband had the black pepper beef. It was amazing. Better than any Chinese food I've ever had. It's not fancy and I noticed several tables seemed to be speaking Chinese. I can't wait to go back. They should change their signage to reflect their traditional Chinese fare instead of sushi and hibachi. You can get that anywhere. The dishes we had were superb.

Atmosphere: Extremely clean and comfortable. It felt like being taken care of in someone's home (in a very good way, not a creepy bed and breakfast way). The staff, including owner, were all very gracious. The chef came out and asked how everything was. The owner was great with our baby, as was the waiter. It may have been one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. Food: Nothing short of amazing. The signage doesn't mention it, but the Chinese offerings are top notch. The signs all call it Sushi and Japanese. Not being a fan of sushi personally, my wife got a small roll to try. Salmon/Avocado. She said it was really good and well worth the price (under $5). We shared the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken and the Cumin Pork. My few trips to Koi (apparently the owner used to own/run Koi), I've always ordered the Cumin Pork. It was worlds better at Omi. The meat was more tender, juicy and flavorful. The bamboo shoots were fresh and tender. Being a fan of sichuan food, I was extremely happy to run across the Chong Qing chicken on the menu. This is bits of fried chicken tossed in a very spicy oil that uses sichuan peppercorns. I've had spicier versions, but this was just about perfect. It's a flavor that is interesting with every bite and easy to over do it. They even brought out free bowls of soup while waiting for the entrees to arrive. This is now my one and only chinese spot in the metro. I take it as a good sign that we were the only non-asian patrons. I've reviewed a fair number of places on yelp. This is the first one that I wish they had a 6th star. It was that great of an experience.

At Omi you can enjoy either Chinese or Japanese cuisine. They have two different menus. I am a big fan of both, so I had a little column A and a little column B. The restaurant is in a strange location and the outside of the building isn't much to look at, but the food was pretty good and satisfying, better than average for Baton Rouge Asian food. The food they serve is more on the traditional side so don't be afraid to try a family style dinner. We started with fried gyoza. The dumplings were tasty and quite moist on the inside (free of you like them on Facebook). The Salmon Naruto had a fresh, crunchy cucumber wrap, but there was just too much of it. Everything else, the salmon, masago, and sauce were fine, just there was so much cucumber to get through to properly enjoy them. Average in my opinion. For the main course, I had pepper calamari from the Chinese menu. It was cooked well and had good flavor. 不错 (bu cuo) - "not bad", and certainly good for Baton Rouge standards. Also don't forget to ask for a bowl of white rice to accompany the meal. I did sample some of the egg drop soup as well. I was happy to see that it wasn't the bright yellow stuff you find at Chinese buffets and take-out places, but a more traditional version with naturally colored broth and some diced tomatoes. Pretty good. Omi is a pretty good Asian restaurant, and with both Chinese and Japanese choices in the menu (they even had a small sushi bar you can eat at) you can please a more diverse crowd. Try it out for yourself.

Omi is delicious. I've never had the sushi here, but I've had a large amount of the Chinese dishes. I've had dishes I may have not as liked as much as others, but I haven't had a bad item yet. They are authentic, so they don't really have your standard Chinese-American cuisine. They have great service and the prices aren't bad. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Absolutely one of the best!! I am very picky about my Asian food. This restaurant totally take me by surprised. All the sushi and other foods are very fresh ingredients and the staffs are so friendly! I will have to pay 10 times more in New York for this kind of food! Well deserve the 5 stars here!!

The place doesn't look that nice on the outside but they do have some pretty authentic Chinese food. I really enjoy their mapo tofu, spicy and kind of curry-ish. The waitress was also very nice and tried her best to see to it that we were happy.

  • Russell W.

Although the one draw back is the staff may not be the best at conversing in English about the menu, that probably contributes to the fact the food is amazing. . . so I more than happily overlook that.

The best Chinese food in Baton Rouge , but the waiting time is so long unless customers reserve the food in advance. The service is good.

Anyone that is rating Omi 4 or 5 stars has never had good sushi before. We had a couple of the rolls, which were OK, but the sushi rice was way too dry. We also had the Sashimi Deluxe and only the unagi was any good. The other 5 types of fish were old, sour and belonged in the trash and not on a plate. Did not try the grill, but avoid the sushi!

Awesome, delicious food. My favorite place to eat in Baton Rouge.

I ordered the honey chicken and my husband got the sweet and sour chicken. We got take out, and when we returned to out hotel to eat it, we honestly couldn't tell which one was which. They were both equally good. I was a little nervous when I got there, because even though it was Sunday night, because there was no one there. When I went in, the girl at the counter assumed I was the one who ordered the honey and sweet & sour chickens.... Which told me no one else had ordered take out. Usually, this is a sure sign of a horrible place, but it was really good.

The food took a long while to make it to us but once it did we were highly impressed. We went there this past Friday night and were sat right away. Love not having to wait for a table like so many cattle call restaurants in town. Our waitress quickly came to get our drink orders. Within minutes we had our drinks and had ordered the dumpling appetizer. It was not out of the ordinary but very tasty and came in a generous portion of six. Meanwhile we had placed our order for the entrées. We decied to share the Sweet and Sour Pork and the spicy Chong Qing chicken. We waited for some time for those dishes but our waitress brought us some soup to make up for it. I believe it was Hot and Sour. The broth was so delicious. We both finished it quickly and moved on to trying the strawberry sake. Yummy yummy. Very sweet and not a lot of kick but was a fun drink. When we got our main dishes we were not super hungry as we had tried so many other things but they were both so good it was hard to stop eating! My husband called the pork dish Chinese schnitzel. It was thin fried medallions and the sauce was perfect. The chicken dish had great heat and was the perfect little bite size nuggets that were perfect for a non-skilled chop stick user! We had the leftovers for breakfast and it was still as amazing! We will be back to Omi.

BEST CHINESE IN BATON ROUGE!!! We went here specifically for the Chinese after hearing about this place and reading the reviews, so I cannot speak to their sushi or Japanese food. But the Chinese is true, authentic Chinese food. My wife is Chinese and she agreed that this place was great. The Chong Qing chicken was different from anything I have ever had, but absolutely delicious. Hot and sour soup - delicious. Sweet and sour fish was incredible, and not with the nasty bright red "sweet and sour" sauce typical in Americanized Chinese restaurants. This was the authentic Chinese way of making sweet and sour and it was fantastic. The bok choy was cook perfectly without being over cooked. All in all, it was a great meal and we will be back again and again. There really is no decent Chinese food in Baton Rouge. Well, now there is!!

  • Euphemia G.

Best Chinese food in Baton Rouge. They even have their own herb and vegetable garden. Don't be fooled by the "Japanese Grill and Sushi" sign outside; they have a separate and very authentic Chinese menu.

  • Robert S.

By far the best Chinese Food restaurant in Baton Rouge. Very authentic. We have been here several times and the food never disappoints. Very glad this restaurant exists. Highly recommend hot and sour soup and sweet and sour pork or king pao chicken. Sushi rolls are also cheap but delicious.

  • Rami Q.

One of my favorite places for Chinese in town. They will give you a Chinese and a Japanese menu it stick to the Chinese one. Very authentic dishes, very flavorful, my favorite is the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken. The only thing this restaurant needs in my opinion is a nice welcoming appearance. The inside is very bland with no decor and very dark. It doesn't keep me from going back that's why it's still 4 stars in my book.

Some of the best and most authentic Chinese food in Louisiana. Trust me- my wife is from Northern China and we go there at least 2 weeks every year.

I've been here 3 times so far. And on each occasion the food was great. The service and the atmosphere...um...not as great as the food. On two occasions, I think the air conditioner was on the fritz or something...it was extremely warm...and couple that was a sizzling plate when I ordered the Black Pepper Steak and it made for a sweaty meal. But the food it what we're here for...no? I've had the pleasure of having the Chong Qing Hot and Spicy Chicken, the Black Pepper Steak, the Stir-Fried Green Beans, and the Cumin Chicken. Of all those things, everything was fantastic, with the exception of the Cumin Chicken (to me...I'm sure it tasted exactly like it was supposed to, but I guess I don't like the flavor of Cumin). I'm already a repeat customer...hopefully they get their air conditioning situation fixed...until then, I guess it's take-out for me!

Driving back from New Orleans to Houston. Was not expecting too much. Am now bookmarking it to stop again. Both my husband and I were shocked at how good it was for the price. Now it's not fine dining. But it was filled with lots of nicely dressed families with well behaved kids. Was handed watermelon after we finished our meal. Nice touch. Oh, and complimentary soup with our entree. We are now going to waddle back out to the car.

Needed quick food as we drove through town. Yelp ratings good, give it a try. Now I wish it was close to home. Had the pot chicken - awesome Szechuan food. They gave us complimentary soup and watermelon for dessert - will stop by next time I drive through. Others should go as you won't be disappointed

I really loved the dishes we ordered. The egg drop soup was a great way to start the meal. The spicy garlic green beans were FANTASTIC. Spicy and cooked to perfection. I tried a dish that I had never had before - spicy dried tofu.. It was pretty solid but not my favorite. The avocado roll was tasty but looked hastily cut. Our service was wonderful. Friendly and on top of it. I would definitely come back.

Newsflash! OMI is fantastic! Okay, so that's not exactly breaking news as EVERYONE has been raving about this place for months, but I'm here to tell you - listen to the hype. Sure, the outside isn't super inviting and getting to and from this place during peak traffic hours is a pain in the tuchus, but once you try their Ants Crawling on Trees and their Egg Drop Soup, your pain will quickly assuaged. The Ants Crawling on Trees is nothing like it sounds (i.e. Slightly creepy) but is actually sweet potato noodles with bits of pork and this amazing sauce that is spicy and flavorful. Their Egg Drop Soup is absolutely the best I've ever had. It has bits of tomato in it, which is weird, but it strangely works. It's creamy and not gloppy, like egg drop soup can be when it sits in a buffet line for hours and hours. This actually tastes fresh, and has a small hint of sesame oil which is lovely. If you love it on your first try as much as I did, you can go back and try the Double cooked pork or the Chong Xing Chicken, both are solid choices. The Double cooked pork is a Chinese pork belly dish with cabbage and peppers, and the Chong Xing Chicken is pieces fried chicken tossed in a spicy Szechuan sauce. Both are served with a heaping scoop of rice for less than $12. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. It's my new go-to for Chinese, partly because of its proximity to my abode but mostly because of the variety and inventiveness of their food.

Driving back from New Orleans to Houston, we stopped in Baton Rouge for gas. We were in a hurry to get back home, so we were debating which fast food joint nearby to drive through. But nothing sounded good. Well, right behind the gas station was a Drury Inn. And then we saw a sign for Omi Restaurant sort of right near it. My initial thought was, "that must be the hotel restaurant there," and quickly discounted the idea of stopping there - because, I mean, hotel restaurant? No. I don't know why it took me so long to think of it, but eventually I decided to open up my Yelp app. And TADA! At the top of the list was Omi Restaurant, with some pretty good reviews. It didn't take long after that for us to round the corner and walk right in. It was 3pm on a Sunday, so we were almost the only people in there. But that meant that we had close to their undivided attention. The service was mostly great, with the exception that our drinks were not refilled until and unless we asked for a refill. Here is what was ordered at the table, and my assessments: 1. Stir fried green beans with minced beef - This was my dish, and I thought it was phenomenal. Not too oily, great flavor, fresh garlic. By far my favorite thing. 2. Some sort of a sliced tuna - I thought this was pretty good. I just had one piece. 3. Rainbow Roll - I didn't try this, but my boyfriend said it was just ok - kind of bland. 4. Cashew Chicken - I tried a few bites of this, and really enjoyed the flavor. There was something a little off about the texture of the chicken, though. The menu stated that it was white meat chicken, but it did not seem like it. And there was a bit of gristle. After we ordered, and before our meal arrived, we were offered our choice of soup "on the house." I had some Hot and Sour soup, which was delicious, and my boyfriend had Egg Drop soup, which he also really enjoyed. Another nice touch was that after our meal, they brought us each out a slice of really cold, really sweet watermelon. Such a nice surprise, and pleasant ending to our meal. Overall, I thought this was a nice little spot, with friendly people and good food. And if I ever found myself in Baton Rouge again, I'd pop back in and try some different dishes. Maybe do a bit more research first to determine the Yelp favorites. :)

The guys is the former owner of Koi near LSU. The sushi is good. The area that this restaurant shines is the Chinese menu. I haven't gotten anything that I didn't find tasty. The Egg Drop soup is awesome too. I recommend this place to everyone and bring friends.

This place is fantastic! The best Teriyaki Beef I have eaten. The friend eggplant was excellent, and the Sesame Chickens was awesome. A great place to take a family when introducing children to Asian cuisine.

Being a frequent traveler to Baton Rouge I have seen this establishment often and tried it about 6 weeks ago. I have say great Chinese and Japanese food. I have tried several dishes and all are outstanding. Not a big Sushi person so I haven't tried it.

"Chinese food". I walked in to a very obscure dining area... it was extremely unappealing, almost sad. It is not often I walk into a place feel depressed. Let me start with the drive up... ummm, the place looked closed, a bit run-down, the "open sign" un-lit and there was a sign on the door that read not to leave belongings, such as laptops, etc. in the car". Immediately, I was creeped out. When I walked in to the restaurant, the host/hostess briefly must have briefly stepped away because no one was there. I looked around to see if I should seat myself. One of the servers stepped out and said I could sit anywhere. The restaurant was odd... sushi bar as soon as you enter, dining area to your left, bar to your right and unused hibachis on the front right. This place was enormous and under-utilized. Kitchen Impossible needs to come and do a complete re-vamp of this place... pump it up with some life! I loved the gas fireplace... nice touch for a cold day outside... that was the only thing I like about the place. Menus were laminated, but need to be replaced soon because they are starting to bubble. There is no lunch menu, so you just order from the regular menu. Items are priced over $9 - $16. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, Egg drop soup served as a starter and entree came with steamed rice. Vegetables did not seem fresh... not crunchy at all, a bit oily, tasted black bean paste, glistening entree. The dish was extremely salty that I could not even finish it. I may be back here again, if I get an invitation, but I was not very impressed. The staff was warm and friendly though, so I do have to give them that!

No MSG! And Super Good! I felt really good after eating here, you can tell the chef loves to cook. The Sweet Sour Soup was delish and made from scratch. I am not a fan of sweet and sour but this was NOT the traditional sweet and sour, it was just incredibly good. In fact, I could have just ordered this all night long and I would have been a happy camper and I would have ordered a cup for breakfast. :) We also ordered the House Eggplant and that too was just awesome! Bonus: The waitress was adorable and sweet. I am totally coming back here. Omi is now one of my new favorite restaurants.

Just arrived in Baton Rouge after a 10hr car trip. Went here for valentines night dinner. The two women ordered sushi and the two men ordered Chinese food. The men received their dishes quickly. After 45+ minutes we asked where the sushi was and found out the ticket was lost. Since it was already late we wanted to leave. Instead of automatically waiving the whole bill we had to argue with management. Eventually the bill was waived but management started to blame the waitress in front if us, it wasn't her fault. Very poor management and ruined our valentines dinner. Would not recommend.

OMI serves the best Chinese/Sechuan food I've ever had anywhere! Its not hyperbole, but its the truth! I have not had a single bad dish since I've started going here. I put OMI on my list of Best of Baton Rouge and I usually bring out of town visitors here for a treat! Wow, now that is an experience! OMI really brings it when it comes to serving up excellent food. The secret is great ingredients that are prepared to order. Not really that surprising, I know, but there is something to be said for the tenderness of the meats, the snap of the vegetables, and the flawless rice. Its all about balance too. Its never too salty, too spicy, too sour, or anything to the extreme. Every meal starts out with an excellent egg drop soup which balances textures and sour flavors with the precision of Phillipe Petit. The dishes aren't too descriptive, but the only description you need to know is that they are ALL delicious! Ants climbing trees, garlic sauce pork, crispy fried pork, cumin spicy pork, cumin chicken, pot chicken, chong qing chicken, SPICY OIL BEEF, black pepper beef, mama seafood soup, spicy soy fish, garlic shrimp, garlic eggplant, deep fried eggplant, stir fried string beans, and eggplant with basil are just simply amazing. Every single time I've had any of these dishes, they are flawless. Simply perfect. Consistency is key here at OMI. Probably my favorite dish on the menu though is the special OMI beef noodles. Its in my top dishes of any restaurant and I've eaten at some really fancy places! The final aspect that makes this place a winner is that all the dishes are very reasonably priced. I usually order 2 dishes and have enough leftover for lunch the following day while getting out for about $25 with tip. I've never had anything off the Japanese menu but with the quality of the Chinese menu, why would you! The service here has always been great too! Food is brought out quickly. Rice and drinks are refilled promptly. Smiles and friendliness abound! The only thing I don't like about OMI is that almost every time I go there, its empty. I don't know why! I don't know how a restaurant that serves such great food have such a lackluster clientele. OMI is a fantastic meal! If you've gotten this far in my review, stop what you are doing, and either go to OMI right now, or make plans to go. I'm sure you wont be disappointed! I can't wait for my next OMI visit!

This is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in Louisiana. It's authentic flavoring and not fast food. all of the traditional dishes are superb. Check this place our. You will love it I tried garlic shrimp, king pao chicken and the cumin pork.

4 star rating because this is probably the BEST and most AUTHENTIC Chinese food you can get within 150 mile radius. This is order off the menu type of place and NOT the "Americanize Chinese Buffet". I will be back and would recommend to anyone out there. Had the following dish: Cumin Pork - delicious and SPICY Chong Qing Chicken - also very very good Spicy Beef Jerky - good but not as good as other dish Memphis Fish - good but its a soup Did not try any sushi

I ate here because it was right next to my hotel. When I entered there were several tables that had not been serviced, and were not serviced before I left. Leaving dirty dishes on the table is not cool in my books. The crowd was mostly college students and the tables that were clean were all occupied so this place does some serious business...so why 2 stars? The servers did not know how to multi-task (hence the unbused tables!) They would come out, get one order, go back, come back bring one table's drinks, go back. The servers walked maybe 10 extra trips per table because they were unable to take several orders or drop food and then take an order, etc. I was here for a good while longer than I had planned since the whole process was contingent on the wait staff walking back and forth, back and forth. Each server only had 3 tables which is completely manageable if you know how to do it. ...i had 2 rolls, both of them were pretty good, but I was hoping for dinner in 45 minutes and it was closer to 1 hour 45 minutes.

Not sure if it deserves 2 stars or 1... Me and my girlfriend went here for our date night since Ichiban had a wait. We were really craving hibachi. We decided to come here because it had 4 stars on google reviews. Well I will say I was quite disappointed. We both ordered dinner hinachi, I got chicken and she got steak. We both got the ginger dressing with our salads and I also ordered pork dumpling appetizers. First sign of badness: the dumplings were cold and wet. Next, our salads which came out at the same time were DRENCHED in dressing. My gf had to scrape hers off into her napkin. Then, our hibachi arrived (about 30 seconds after everything else). My gf's steak was chewy. I asked for mine spicy or for some sriracha and got neither, but didn't want to bother the server again. The food was rather tasteless and quite greasy. Server never did a 2-minute food check or a 10-minute food check for that matter. Took another 12 minutes to get our check while she ran by us multiple times with empty stacked plates.. From what I read, the chinese food is good. I guess if I ever go again, it will be for Chinese food. Not sure what I was expecting from a place that serves Japanese, sushi, and chinese take out? Well I found out.

Clear soup: really good House salad with ginger dressing: way too much dressing and way too much mayonnaise texture to it. Definitely ask for dressing on the side. Sweet and sour chicken: really good and crispy Stir fried green beans with minced meat: awesome except for the grease factor. All in all: decent stop that could be great if they eased up on the oils.

Though you don't get alot of sushi for your buck, it was good and tasted fresh. I tried the Ching Chong Chicken! (ok, it was really called chong xing chicken, but who can resist reverting back to childhood teasing!) Really tasty! Not too spicy unless you eat the peppers. However, I'd recommend a salad to go with it, as it's fried/breaded and a bit on the dry side. I opted for another entree of vegetables to balance out the meal. Service could be better. The chicken had me thirsting quite a bit, and it took awhile for the waitress to return to the dining room. I'd hate to see how busy this place is at night.

Went to Omi for lunch today, and although the food was delicious and reasonably priced, the service was disappointing. When we first arrived, there were only a few tables taken then business started to pick up, and to be fair, the servers were running back and forth quite a bit. My friend asked for salt and pepper and extra salad dressing that the server never brought. I tried to get clarification on the entrees, but I must have misunderstood the server because I thought I was ordering sushi rolls instead of sashimi. On the positive side, the Bento boxes we ordered, my friend the tempura and I the sushi, were plentiful and delicious. Fish was fresh and tempura batter was crunchy. Planning to check out other similar restaurants with better service next time though.

Seriously gross Chinese food. I don't know about the Japanese stuff. We ordered take out and the food was in the car for no more than 7 minutes. It was still hot when we got it home, so the problems weren't because it was take out. The green pepper beef was slimy, the beef was almost impossible to chew, and the flavor was nothing special. The Mu Shu pork was nasty. Pork was like rubber, it was salty with no other flavor, for some reason it was covered in egg (never seen that before in this dish) and black vegetables. This place is too expensive for your to waste your money here. Most cheap chinese places will do it better.

As a former waitress here, I have some biases but from what I've experienced behind the scenes, I can tell you that the most popular dishes are the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, House Style Eggplant, Ants Climbing Up Tree, Black Pepper Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork/Chicken, and as well as any of the hibachi dishes or fish soups. I carried those out at least once every time I worked there. The building and location is not too pleasing to the eye, but once you get inside, the atmosphere is super friendly and casual. The head chef is great and really dedicated to cooking everything to perfection, and does so efficiently, but beware of possible slow service-- especially on busy days. Any wait will be worth it!

The server was new, but had a genuine smile on her face the whole time. The food was pretty good. I had the gyoza, egg drop soup, and stir fried udon noodles. We'll go back.

The best Chinese food in baton rouge by far. All the dishes mentioned by others are delicious. Especially the spicy chicken and egg drop soup. We had beef vegetable noodle stir fry(it is not on the menu). We all thought it was amazing. My son had the tonkatsu Bento. He loved it. Also the fried rice is better than other places.

When we pulled up to OMI I noticed the parking lot was bare and the grass needed to be cut. I was very skeptical going in. We were the only people there except for one other table of about 6 people. I was happy to see that the other 6 people were Asian. I figured that Asian people wouldn't support a Chinese restaurant if it wasn't true to taste. I will say it was a little quiet in there but when the food came out the place totally livened up with sounds of yum. It did take a little longer than I expected for the food but there was definitely a reason why. None of this food is frozen or comes out of a package like it does at the typical Americanized Chinese place. You could tell this stuff was cooked with love and thought out carefully. I kept telling our waitress how I loved the food and she said it was because the chef was Chinese and actually cooked his own dishes and things that he liked. You will notice the menu is very original. I was so impressed by this place. The Chinese menu does not have a description of the food so you have to ask the waitress. There was a little bit of a language barrier but she was able to steer us in the right direction. The small hot and sour soup is huge. I couldn't imagine what a large looks like. 2 people could share the small. I don't like hot and sour soup but my husband gets it all the time so occasionally I'll taste it and it makes me cringe. However, I tasted this one and it was really good. I think it has sesame seed oil in it. The Memphis fish is spicy and amazing. It's a soup and comes with steamed rice. It's huge. 2 people should share it. They don't skimp on the fish. Although it is spicy, it still tastes really fresh (there is a hint of lemon). The spicy cumin beef if so tender and comes with steamed rice as well. I posted a pic of all the food and highly recommend it. I will definitely be a regular here.

This is a restaurant that understands the meaning of the word "spicy." They will make their dishes spicy if you ask and it's the kind of spicy that even native born Louisianaians will appreciate. The sushi is decent but the Chinese food is much better. If you want fried rice, don't go anywhere else in the city. Omi is the best. The location can be a bit of a pain in the neck to get to but it is worth it.

I travel to Baton Rouge several times a year and this is my most Chinese restaurant in town. My local friends took me there for the first time. The lady who served our table was very friendly and forthcoming on the extra information about the food. While we were waiting, she even brought us a big bowl of soup saying that our dishes were taking long, which I didn't think was a long wait. The foods, I thought, were very authentic, well, I haven't been to China, but they were distinguishable from other Americanized places. Since they serve Szechuan cuisine, it is spicy in general. Watch out for the chilli signs on the menu. As for sushi, I have every tried it but I consider this place as a Chinese restaurant, so I don't think I will ever try it. Baton Rouge is far from the coast anyways.

Best Chinese I've had in a long time! Started with the fried pork dumplings....freshly made and had a smokey flavor which paired well with the pork flavor. I had the Chicken Kung Pao which was spicy but not overly spicy. The sauce went well with the combination of assorted veggies, chicken, and peanuts. My wife had the spicy chicken and it lives up to the name.....SPICY! It was chicken lightly dusted with what I think was cornstarch, a layer of ground Szechuan peppers, then fried crispy in oil and tossed in broken Szechuan peppers and cilantro. The cilantro sounds strange but went surprisingly well with the spice...opened up the palate for the spice! A great meal that I will repeat! Maybe next time I will try one of the many sushi or shashimi options.

Definitely the most authentic restaurant for Northern Chinese cuisine. Travelled to Beijing and Inner Mongolia a couple of years ago. This place comes as close to the mark of what Chinese food should taste like. However, I think they tempered the spice a little for American taste. Schzewan peppercorn should make your mouth go numb...not a mild tingle. Definitely my fav restaurant In town.

LOVE it! I had the Cumin Spicy Pork and it was so good...very well cooked and all that. The service was pretty good but, they tend to forget the refills unless you remind them.

Don't be misjudged on the outside of the restaurant even though it does not look appealing. They have two different menus for Chinese and Japanese food. I HIGHLY recommend ordering the Chinese food only because it is the best Chinese food I had in Baton Rouge. The service was decent and the pricing is cheap and affordable. Will be back here again.

Unpretentious, delicious Szechuan style food. Had the pepper tuna as appetizer, it was "melt in your mouth" delicious. We had one seafood dish (Kung Pao Shrimp,) one chicken dish (sesame chicken) and one vegetarian entree (garlic eggplant,) all superb. Rice was good and plentiful, tea was served in generous quantities. Highly recommend it.
